HELPING HANDS
![]() What is Helping Hands ?
Helping Hands is a new outreach program at Metairie Baptist Church (MBC) that has been created to serve MBC members and members of the community in this time of great need. The program links a network of volunteers to recipients in need of a helping hand.
How does Helping Hands work?
The recipient fills out the Recipient Worksheet, indicating his or her areas of need. Then, the program coordinators link the recipient with an MBC volunteer with the matching skills to fulfill that need. The network’s flexibility allows for recipients who may need regular contact or occasional help. The assistance may include, but is not limited to: a ride to church, a weekly hot meal, or a referral to community services.
What can I do to help?
Volunteers should fill out a Volunteer Worksheet to indicate their availability, which can be found in the MBC church office @ (504) 835-2611. Also, volunteers may contact Linda Bordelon for more information. The Helping Hands phone number is (504) 885-9533, or you can email lilinda1@bellsouth.net.
What if I know a prospective recipient?
Recipients should fill out a Recipient Worksheet to indicate their areas of need and return to the church or return to Amy Bordelon. These worksheets are also available in the church office.
